“L'Auvergne pour un Enfant” is a non-profitable organisation (by law of July 1st 1901) (#0632018248). Some highlights of its statutes (revised in February 2009): • Article II - This non-profitable organisation' goals are:1. To care on a temporary basis in Clermont Ferrand for children, teenagers or young adults coming from developing countries and awaiting treatment for severe pathologies calling for a surgical intervention which will enable the child to live a normal life afterwards with no need for expensive port-op care. (…) The children will be living with volunteer host families during their stay. (…) 2. To set up cooperation with physicians in the countries the children are coming from to provide them with technical support and training. • Article IV - Admission of the association's members:To become a member you must express the wish (…) • Article V - The different types of members in the association:(…) The benefactor members of the association are the donors who financially support the association in the course of the year with a minimum donation as set by the general assembly and who expressed their intention to become a member of the association. • Article X - Screening and patients' selection:A commission reviews the candidates' patient notes. The commission's composition varies depending on the pathologies. Surgeons, hospital specialists or medical practitioners are called upon to form the commission. They may be members of the association or mandated by the association as experts. The commission's decisions made are solely based on medical criteria within the framework of the association's purpose and depending on the current financial situation; they cannot be appealed.
